The education department at Iowa Public Television (IPTV) is excited that you have chosen to enrich your child's learning. In this backpack, you will find math-based books, math-themed DVDs, and two activies: dominoes and chain links. These provided activities are great for fostering a love for engineering
Dominoes - Great for counting, grouping, addition, subtraction, quantity, sorting and fraction work. Facilitate your child's learning by asking them to sort by colors or numbers (number totals for older children). Many domino games can be found online to give families additional ideas.
Chain Links - Another great way to work on early math skills. Use the supplied task cards to challenge your child. See if you can create additional tasks. Talk with your child about the stories and characters in the books and episodes. Ask probing questions to further your child's thinking about science. We hope you will spend time with your child exploring science.
