Karl, Retired Pastor

The West Des Moines Library has empowered retirement days for me in two ways. One, I am able to read extensively in the newspaper and magazine sections. Two, I am able to borrow books to read rather than to purchase and keep in my now limited home library. An added feature is borrowing audiobooks to savor while I drive to visit family in other states.

Turn on Reading History

Encore – Turning on Your Reading History

In the WDM library catalog, Encore, your Reading History – a record of the books you’ve checked out – is turned OFF for your privacy by default.  If you want to track what you’ve checked out, you can turn this feature ON very easily.

Go to Encorehttp://encore.wdm.iowa.gov

Login – button at the top right of screen – with your WDM Library Card Number (on the back of your card – no spaces) and your PIN.  If you do not remember your PIN, please contact the library and we can reset it for you.

Once Logged In, click on My Account at the top right of the screen.

Look on the left side of the next page for Reading History

If your history is turned OFF (by default), you will see a button that says Save Reading History.

Click the Save Reading History button to turn ON the History option.  This will now save a history of whatever you check out from this point on, until you Opt Out again.

Once your history is tracking, you can Print or Export the list at any time by going into My Account > Reading History.

You can Opt Out of tracking history at any time.  You will lose whatever you have tracked to that point, so you may want to Export your history before Opting Out.
