Karl, Retired Pastor

The West Des Moines Library has empowered retirement days for me in two ways. One, I am able to read extensively in the newspaper and magazine sections. Two, I am able to borrow books to read rather than to purchase and keep in my now limited home library. An added feature is borrowing audiobooks to savor while I drive to visit family in other states.

Meeting & Study Rooms

ROOMS DURING RENOVATIONS

The WDM Library began extensive renovations in Fall of 2019.  These will be done in several Phases through early 2021 – exact dates are still being worked out, so please bear with us!

During some of these phases, certain Rooms may be unavailable for booking, so you may find them blocked off, or not listed altogether.  If you count on our rooms for regular meetings, tutoring or study groups, you will want to make other arrangements.

We have created this short list of some local room options.  It is not an exhaustive list.

Online Room Booking

Small Group Study Rooms

There are eight (8) Study and Meeting Rooms located on the second floor, and a small meeting room – the Pond View Room – on the first floor, with varying capacity from 1 to 8 people.

You can call 515-222-3403 (Reference Desk) or use our online booking system to book one of these rooms.

Note: Only six (6) of the rooms can be booked online, up to 12 hours in advance. To book on the same day, call 515-222-3403 (Reference Desk).

Use of the Study Rooms rooms is guided by our Study Rooms Policy. (In Adobe PDF)

NOTE:   two additional rooms – Study Room G (up to 4 people) and the Southwoods meeting room (up to 8 people) are NOW available for use and online booking.  Use the link above.

Later in 2020 – towards the end of the year – the Pond View Room on first floor will be eliminated.  The new Southwoods Room (available now) replaces it.

Larger Meeting Rooms

NOTE:  Starting in the Fall of 2019,  the Millie Knee Classroom on the 2nd floor will be unavailable for meetings until sometime in March of 2020.  It will then be unavailable again in late 2020 through the end of the project.

We currently have one (1) Meeting Room to accommodate larger groups.

  • The Community Room, located on the first floor of the library, holds up to 70.
  • You can make a request for this room using our online booking system, up to 72 hours in advance.
    • Note: this link is different than the Study Rooms booking link above, and requires an email address and phone number. These larger rooms require staff approval (you will be notified via email or phone).

The Community Room is subject to our Community Room Policy.

Rooms are available for public use at no charge.  Behavior in all rooms is subject to our Library Conduct Policy.

You can also contact the Library at 515-222-3403 to verify availability and make a request over the phone.
