I have been a book lover practically since birth -- my parents regularly caught me trying to read under my covers with a flashlight long after "lights out" time when I was growing up, and I still have a book in my hand every chance I get. Now that I have a two-and-a-half year old to pass my love of reading down to, I feel very blessed to have a wonderful facility like the WDM library just minutes away from home. She gets very excited about going to the "yibardy" and her squeals of delight as she runs to the children's section elicit the world's biggest smile from me! 

 

Renew Items

Renew Your Materials Online

You can search titles, reserve books, check your library card account AND renew books through our library catalog online.   

Item Renewals are subject to the rules below*.  To Renew Items, go to the WDM Library My Account page.

Login with your Barcode (the number on the back of your library card or key card – NO spaces) and your

encore login filledPIN.

Depending on your internet browser, you may be able to “Save Password”.

Note: if you do not yet have a PIN, you will need to set it up with WDM Library staff (call 515-222-3400 or email library@wdm.iowa.gov with your name, phone and library card number).

Once you’ve logged in, it will say “My Book Cart” and your name. Click on your Name.

You can then do the following:

    • check when your items are due
    • renew items you have checked out
    • check on holds and fines
    • create a list of items for future reference

It will default to showing your Requested items (items on hold). To see what you have checked out, look on the left menu for “X items currently checked out” and click on that. You will then see your checked out items on display.

Click the checkbox next to the items you want to Renew and click on the Renew Marked button. If you simply want to try to renew all your checked out items, you can click Renew All.

It will then ask you “The following item(s) will be renewed, would you like to proceed?” Click Yes to proceed. Under Status it will now list your new due date.

If an item cannot be renewed because of an existing hold, it will indicate that “Not all renewals were successful” and will say ON HOLD in the status next to the un-renewed item(s).

*Renewals

Except where noted above, items are checked out for three (3) weeks. Many items may be renewed twice (two additional periods–see loan periods) unless a hold has been placed. You may renew either in person or by phone (515-222-3404). You can also renew via our WDM Library Online Catalog.

Don’t forget to try the 3M Self-Check System, located near the Information Desk; staff will be happy to assist you!
The following items cannot be renewed:

  • Vertical Files
  • Magazines
  • Holiday Books
  • Reserve Items (an item someone else has put on hold)
