We are happy to welcome author Sylvia Nemmers to the Library! She will share stories from her life, as well as her experiences writing her book.
"When I walk with my guide dog, I am fairly oblivious to what is going on around me until someone walks up to me and speaks. Sometimes it is a person telling me how sorry they feel for me. Sometimes it has been a person asking me why I cover my hair, or why I became a Muslim. Other times someone sees me at a conference and asks me how I got my PhD or my job as Department Chair in Environmental Science. And the most common one of all - “Can I pet your dog?” I don’t mind the questions but feel unworthy of the pity.
This is an invitation to come and hear some of my tails. My life journey has been unique, but I am certain we will find shared experiences connecting us through the tapestry of humanity."
Books will be available for sale after the program.
