Adventure Pass

Find Your Local Adventure!

The Iowa Adventure Pass program and the West Des Moines Public Library offer the opportunity for an adventure at a local attraction.

How does it work?

You can reserve Adventure Passes by visiting www.iowaadventurepass.org. Adventure Passes through the West Des Moines Public Library are only available to library card holders who are residents of West Des Moines or Cumming (contract city). Each patron is allowed to reserve passes from each of our participating venues once each calendar year (i.e. one time in 2025, one time in 2026), as available. Most passes allow two (2) adults and two (2) children admission to a destination on a particular date, unless otherwise noted. See below for exceptions.

Which venues can you get passes from through WDM Public Library?

  • Blank Park Zoo
  • Blue Zoo Aquarium
  • Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden
  • Des Moines Children's Museum
  • Nelson Pioneer Farm and Museum
  • Reiman Gardens
  • Science Center of Iowa
  • Wellmark Family Series at Des Moines Performing Arts

How do I make my reservation?

West Des Moines cardholders can visit www.iowaadventurepass.org, select “Find a Pass” on the homepage, choose West Des Moines Public Library from the drop-down menu, and view available passes. After selecting a destination, users will enter their library card number and PIN to complete the reservation. Passes can be reserved up to 60 days in advance, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note:

  • Passes are available to adults 18 and older with a WDM Library card in good standing, and may be reserved once per calendar year per venue.

  • Patrons must present their pass confirmation—either as a printed copy, an email on their device, or through a digital wallet—along with a photo ID that matches the name on the reservation.

  • Passes may not be used for admission to special events.

What are the eligibility requirements for each venue?

  • Blank Park Zoo, Science Center of Iowa, Nelson Pioneer and Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden: admission for up to 4 people (2 adults and 2 children)
  • Des Moines Children's Museum: admission for up to 4 people over the age of 1. (No charge for infants under 1 year old.)
  • Reiman Gardens: admission for up to 6 people (2 adults and up to 4 children in the same household)
  • Blue Zoo Aquarium: up to 2 children (ages 3-12) free with the purchase of one adult ticket
  • Des Moines Performing Arts: up to 8 tickets to one of the three Wellmark Family Series performances only. Pass confirmations must be redeemed at the Civic Center box office no later than 45 minutes before the performance.

If I'm not a West Des Moines or Cumming resident, how do I figure out if my home library has Adventure Pass?

The Iowa Adventure Pass is a collaborative program that includes over 65 public libraries across Iowa, in partnership with cultural institutions and supported by Library Market and LocalHop. All libraries that participate will be listed in the drop-down menu when you go to make a reservation.
