About the Library Board of Trustees
The West Des Moines Public Library Board of Trustees is a group of seven (7) West Des Moines residents, each appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council, whose collective duties include:
- Drafting and overseeing the execution of library policy;
- Monitoring and ensuring proper use of the library’s budget;
- Selecting a library director and seeing to it that that person performs his or her duties properly;
- Ensuring that the library’s collections are useful and balanced;
Board members serve four-year terms. Board meetings are on the evening of the third Tuesday of each month.
