Upcoming Changes to Digital Resources

The State Library of Iowa is making some updates to the online resources it provides for libraries and their patrons. These changes are part of a regular review to ensure that the most useful and cost-effective services are available to Iowans.

What’s Changing?

Starting on June 30, 2025, the following resources will no longer be available through the State Library and West Des Moines Public Library:

  • Foundation Directory Online – a resource for nonprofit funding and grant information
  • Brainfuse JobNow/VetNow – support for job seekers and veterans
  • Brainfuse HelpNow – an online tutoring platform (contract ends on July 15, 2025)

These services will be discontinued based on usage data, feedback from libraries, and funding priorities.

What’s Coming Instead?

In mid-July, the State Library will begin offering Mometrix, a digital resource that provides test prep and career support materials. While Mometrix doesn’t offer tutoring or live help like Brainfuse did, it will still be a valuable tool for learners and job seekers.

Still Available: LearningExpress Library

Don’t forget: LearningExpress Library is still available through our Digital Library! This trusted resource includes practice tests, tutorials, career tools, and more. It’s a great option for students, job seekers, and anyone looking to build skills or prepare for exams.
