Jean Fajen

Jean Fajen is the newest addition to the West Des Moines Library Board of Trustees. 

Jean’s love for the West Des Moines Library began when her, now teenage, son was young.  You could find them in the Children's Department several times a week.  While fostering her love of reading onto her son, Jean also developed friendships with the library staff and knew she wanted to become involved with the library in some way. 

She just finished serving six years on the Library Friends Foundation (2016 – 2022).  Jean was the Friends Vice President from July 2019 – July 2020 and served as Board President from July 2020 – July 2022.  Notable Library Friends Foundation accomplishments during her tenure were the placement of the Valley Junction Kiosk and the opening of the Library Teen Center. 

Jean has been a proud resident of West Des Moines since 2001.  She wants to be a part of making our wonderful community even better by supporting the services the library provides.  Jean enjoys reading, working out and watching sports with her husband and her son.  She is a huge Kansas City Royals Baseball and Iowa Hawkeye Basketball fan.   Jean is a Senior Program Manager at Telligen in West Des Moines where she has worked since 2007. 

Supporting local authors has a strong influence in the books Jean reads.  She has discovered several wonderful books by attending the Friends Foundation author events!
