Event Details

Join us for our first meeting of the Inner Child discussion group! This month, we will have a thoughtful and engaging discussion about the life and legacy of Margaret Wise Brown, the beloved author behind timeless classics like Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny. Known for her lyrical prose and deep understanding of childhood imagination, Brown revolutionized children’s literature in the 20th century.

If you aren’t already familiar with this author, we will give a short presentation about her unique approach to storytelling and rhythm, the influence of the Bank Street School and progressive education on her work and the enduring appeal of her books across generations.

Whether you're a longtime fan, a curious reader, or someone interested in the history of children's literature, this discussion will offer new insights into one of the most influential voices in the genre.

Inner Child is the book club for grown-ups who refuse to grow up!  We will indulge in the fantastical and mysterious magic of children’s books, exploring what makes them so powerful and memorable. Each month we will look at the works of an author, an illustrator or a genre of children’s literature, from picture books to children’s fantasy.

As we reflect on the books that mattered to us most, we will discover how they read differently now, and how we have experienced them with the children in our lives. Bring your memories, and bring your imagination!
