This month, we will learn about and celebrate the genius of Maurice Sendak, one of the most influential and imaginative voices in children’s literature. Best known for Where the Wild Things Are, Sendak’s work pushed boundaries, challenged conventions, and gave children permission to feel deeply and dream wildly.
This engaging discussion will delve into Sendak’s groundbreaking storytelling and artistic style, his impact on children's literature and illustration and some of the controversies and cultural conversations sparked by his books.
Inner Child is the book club for grown-ups who refuse to grow up! We will indulge in the fantastical and mysterious magic of children’s books, exploring what makes them so powerful and memorable. Each month we will look at the works of an author, an illustrator or a genre of children’s literature, from picture books to children’s fantasy.
As we reflect on the books that mattered to us most , we will discover how they read differently now, and how we have experienced them with the children in our lives. Bring your memories, and bring your imagination!
