Program Description

Event Details

Whether you grew up with Mother Goose or Shel Silverstein, children’s poetry is more than just whimsical rhymes and silly verses—it’s a rich literary tradition that captures wonder, emotion, and imagination in just a few words. This adult-focused program invites you to explore the vibrant world of children’s poetry, from beloved classics to bold contemporary voices.

We’ll learn about the history of Mother Goose, as well as some other poets. You’re encouraged to bring your own favorite poem (or poems) to read aloud and share.

Inner Child is the book club for grown-ups who refuse to grow up! We will indulge in the fantastical and mysterious magic of children’s books, exploring what makes them so powerful and memorable. Each month we will look at the works of an author, an illustrator or a genre of children’s literature, from picture books to children’s fantasy.

As we reflect on the books that mattered to us most, we will discover how they read differently now, and how we have experienced them with the children in our lives. Bring your memories, and bring your imagination!
