Please join us this month as we learn about and discuss the life and works of Beatrix Potter. Best known for her charming tales of Peter Rabbit and friends, she was far more than a beloved children’s author. She was also a gifted illustrator, a pioneering naturalist, and a determined businesswoman who defied the expectations of her time.
In this engaging program for adults, we’ll explore the origins and evolution of The Tale of Peter Rabbit and its companions, Potter’s artistic process and her deep connection to the natural world, her contributions to conservation and land preservation in the Lake District and also share about our favorite characters. Perhaps you loved Peter Rabbit? Or the Two Naughty Mice?
Inner Child is the book club for grown-ups who refuse to grow up! We will indulge in the fantastical and mysterious magic of children’s books, exploring what makes them so powerful and memorable. Each month we will look at the works of an author, an illustrator or a genre of children’s literature, from picture books to children’s fantasy.
As we reflect on the books that mattered to us most, we will discover how they read differently now, and how we have experienced them with the children in our lives. Bring your memories, and bring your imagination!
