In honor of National Library Card Sign-Up Month, we’re happy to announce that our limited-edition cards with designs submitted by library users are now available! As a reminder, our new card options are:
We know it’s a super tough choice, but we are asking for our patrons to pick just one card design to keep as their WDM Library Card so that our records and data can stay very clean!
How do I get one of the new library cards if I don’t already have a WDM Library Card?
If you don’t have a card with us yet – welcome! All you’ll need is a form of identification with your current address. If your address isn’t current on your ID, you can show us a piece of mail with your current address. Anyone who lives in the state of Iowa can get a library card at any library in the state. You’ll just be limited on some of the digital resources that we offer just to West Des Moines and Cumming (contract city) residents.
How do I get a new library card if I already have one?
To replace your current library card, it will cost $1. When you replace your card, we’ll have a whole check list for you to go through to make sure your card number gets updated across any digital resources that you might be connected to (Libby, Hoopla, printing, etc.) Our Library staff will work with you to make sure you’re all switched over to your new card information!
Can I keep my old card number and just get one of the new designs?
Unfortunately, no. Since this is such an exclusive and limited run of library cards, we’re asking for people to only get them if they intend to switch all of their library card info over to the new card.
Will you do a library card design contest again?
That’s the plan! Once we’ve run out of this stock of library cards, we plan to do another contest since we had such an awesome response last time!
